Academy Award-winner. Matt Damon and Edward and Suzanne Rogers Host the Event Honoring President Bill Clinton
Los Angeles, CA (September 14, 2009) – On Sunday, September 13, the ONEXONE Foundation, a charitable organization committed to fighting health issues and preserving the lives of children locally and globally, raised more than $1 million at their annual fundraiser held during the Toronto International Film Festival. The intimate event was hosted by Edward and Suzanne Rogers and Academy Award-winner® Matt Damon at the Rogers’ home. The fundraiser honored President Bill Clinton with the ONEXONE Difference Award and featured a special performance by Grammy Award-winner® Elvis Costello.
In accepting the ONEXONE Difference Award, President Clinton gave a moving speech about the work ONEXONE has done to alleviate suffering around the world, especially in the areas of clean water and in the country of Haiti.
“ONEXONE is extremely proud of and grateful to the President for his incredible leadership,” said ONEXONE Founder Joelle Berdugo Adler. “His work inspires small organizations like ours to continue to fight to make a difference. He is empowering an entire generation and the world should be profoundly appreciative to President Clinton.”
The event continued with Grammy Award-winner® Elvis Costello who entertained the crowd with a performance that led to a sing-along of his famous hit “Alison”. Renowned saxophonist Mark Rivera also performed his rendition of “New York State of Mind” with Ethan Bortnick, the 8-year old pianist and composer. Also in attendance was Grammy-Award winner® Mary J. Blige, who performed the previous night at a concert fundraiser benefiting ONEXONE at Kool Haus in Toronto.
